Breakfast in Insadong and Jongno: Early-Opening Hangover Soup, Gukbap and Bakeries

At 107-1 Supyo-ro, 3 minutes from Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 5. Open 24 hours, every day. Besides the Yangpyeong-style soup with blood curd and offal there is pork-bone soup and sundaeguk. Prices differ by source: April and July 2026 blogs say ₩10,000, one June blog ₩13,000.

At 91 Supyo-ro, 5 minutes from Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 15. Open 24 hours, every day. Beef gukbap with yukjeon is ₩11,000, plain beef gukbap ₩10,000. Easy to eat alone here.

At 13 Donhwamun-ro 5ga-gil, 2 minutes from Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 2-1, just south of Ikseon-dong. An old beef-soup (gomtang) house whose sign reads "85 years of tradition". Open 24 hours (Kakao Map, Naver, DiningCode). Gomtang is ₩13,000, haejangguk ₩11,000.

At 131 Supyo-ro, right by Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 5. Dried-cabbage hangover soup with rice is ₩3,000. Open 04:20–21:30 every day of the year (Kakao Map and a September 2026 blog); when busy you share tables.

At 32 Jong-ro 3-gil, 5 minutes from Gwanghwamun Station Exit 3. A hangover-soup institution that says it opened in 1937. The tripe and blood-curd soup is ₩12,000, or ₩15,000 for the large. Daily 06:00–22:00 (last order 21:30).

At 40 Jong-ro 5-gil, 6 minutes from Jonggak Station Exit 1. Daily 06:30–22:00. Sundaeguk and pork-bone soup are ₩11,000, or ₩13,000 for the large (October 2026 blog).

At 12 Jong-ro 16-gil, 6 minutes from Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 15. Daily 07:00–21:30. An old stew shop with just four stews: soybean paste, soybean paste with river snails, soft tofu and kimchi. The toilet is outside the building and cramped.

On the second floor of 4 Insadong 5-gil, 6 minutes from Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 5. A soft-tofu stew place said to make its tofu every morning. Spicy or clear sundubu is ₩10,000. Opening is 07:30 per Kakao Map but 08:00 per Naver and DiningCode, so after 08:00 is the safe bet. Closes at 20:30.

At 20 Bukchon-ro 4-gil, 6 minutes from Anguk Station Exit 3. Daily 07:00–18:00. Bagels from ₩3,800 for plain. The queue runs on CatchTable, registered in front of the shop.

At 5 Gyedong-gil, 2 minutes from Anguk Station Exit 3. A bakery cafe in a hanok. Opens at 07:00 on weekdays and 09:00 on weekends and public holidays, closing at 22:00. An Americano is ₩5,500.

At 45 Yulgok-ro, 1 minute from Anguk Station Exit 1. A salt-bread bakery that a blog describes as a new shop from the owner of London Bagel Museum. Daily 07:30–20:00. A plain salt bread is ₩3,800. To eat in, join the waiting list on the device at the door or in the CatchTable app; per a 5 October 2026 blog, takeaway took under 10 minutes while eating in meant about a two-hour wait.

At 35-3 Insadong-gil, 5 minutes from Anguk Station Exit 6. A bagel shop over three floors: order on the ground floor and sit upstairs. Opens at 08:00 every day; closing is 18:30 on weekdays and 19:30 at weekends (Naver, DiningCode), though Kakao Map shows later times. A butter salt bagel is ₩3,900.

At 38-13 Ujeongguk-ro, 4 minutes from Jonggak Station Exit 3-1. An ox-bone soup restaurant that says it opened in 1904, listed in the Michelin Guide. Seolleongtang is ₩15,000. Opens at 08:00 daily, closing at 21:00 Monday to Saturday and 20:00 on Sunday, with a 15:00–16:30 break.
