Anguk Exit 6 — north end of Insadong-gil, Ssamziegil, Jogyesa

The standard exit for Insadong. Bukinsa Madang (62 Insadong-gil) is 168m, 3 minutes away, and Ssamziegil (44 Insadong-gil) 263m, 4 minutes. Jogyesa Temple is 427m, 8 minutes, from the same exit. Starting here, you walk Insadong-gil from north to south.

Jongno 3-ga Exit 5 — south end of Insadong-gil, Tapgol Park, Nagwon-dong soup shops

Naminsa Madang (6 Insadong-gil) is 272m, 5 minutes away, and Tapgol Park 225m, 4 minutes. Somunnan-jip is 73m from this exit and Ilpum Yangpyeong Haejangguk 196m, so you can eat breakfast and then walk Insadong-gil northwards. Kakao Map lists an open public restroom on basement level 1 at Naminsa Madang.

Jongno 3-ga Exit 4 — Ikseon-dong hanok alleys

Ikseon-dong's hanok streets are 135m, 3 minutes away. Ikseon-dong is a cluster of hanok built from the 1920s, one of the oldest in Seoul, and since the mid-2010s it has filled with cafes and restaurants.

Anguk Exit 2 — Bukchon Hanok Village

Bukchon Hanok Village (53 Bukchon-ro) is 555m, 10 minutes away. The Gahoe-dong community center and the Constitutional Court are on the Exit 2 side as well.

Anguk Exit 3 — Gyedong-gil, Changdeokgung, early bakeries

Changdeokgung Palace (99 Yulgok-ro) is 643m, 10 minutes away, and the Bukchon Culture Center (37 Gyedong-gil) 269m, 5 minutes. Cafe Onion Anguk (97m) and London Bagel Museum Anguk (336m), both opening at 07:00, are on this side too.

Anguk Exit 1 — MMCA Seoul

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (30 Samcheong-ro) is 610m, 10 minutes away. Jeongdok Public Library is on the Exit 1 side as well.

Tips

From Myeongdong, take Line 4 one stop to Chungmuro and change to Line 3 towards Daehwa. After Euljiro 3-ga comes Jongno 3-ga, then Anguk. Gyeongbokgung Palace is 274m from Exit 5 of Gyeongbokgung Station, the next stop after Anguk.
Jongno 3-ga Station has 16 exits, and where you surface depends on the line: Line 1 exits are on the main Jong-ro road, the Line 3 side is near Jongmyo Shrine, and the Line 5 side opens into side streets by Nakwon Arcade. Changing between Lines 1 and 5 means walking the full length of the Line 3 platform, 322m.

A salt-bread (shio-pan) bakery at 45 Yulgok-ro, right by Exit 1 of Anguk Station, open 07:30–20:00 every day. Per an October 2026 blog, the takeaway line took under 10 minutes, while eating in meant a wait of about two hours. A plain salt bread, soft or hard, is ₩3,800 and the cheese-honey version ₩4,900. A 2026 blog describes it as a new shop from the owner of London Bagel Museum.

Bukchon Gamasot Sundubu

북촌가마솥순두부

A sundubu (soft tofu stew) restaurant on the second floor of a building on Insadong 5-gil; blogs say the tofu is made in-house every morning. Opening is 07:30 per Kakao Map but 08:00 per Naver and DiningCode, and it closes at 20:30. Spicy or clear sundubu is ₩10,000 and beef-tripe sundubu ₩12,000. With about 120 seats, a blog says it is only crowded at lunch, 11:30–12:30.

어니언 안국

A bakery cafe in a hanok at 5 Gyedong-gil, near Anguk Station Exit 3 — the Anguk branch of Cafe Onion. On weekdays it opens at 07:00, so you can have pastries and coffee for breakfast; on weekends and public holidays it opens at 09:00. An Americano is ₩5,500 and a caffè latte ₩6,000 (Kakao Map).

Cheongjindong Jangteo Sundaeguk

청진동장터순대국

A sundaeguk (pork and blood-sausage soup) restaurant at 40 Jong-ro 5-gil in Cheongjin-dong, opening at 06:30 every day. Sundaeguk and pork-bone soup are ₩11,000 each, ₩13,000 for the large, and for sundaeguk you can choose meat and sausage, meat only, or sausage only (October 2026 blog; Kakao Map's menu, last updated in June, still shows ₩10,000 and ₩12,000). A blog notes it appeared on the TV show "Welcome, First Time in Korea?" in June 2026.
