Public Toilets in Itaewon: Station Restrooms and Open Toilets by Exits 1 and 4

Three Line 6 stations serve the area — Noksapyeong, Itaewon and Hangangjin — and all three have toilets, with an accessible stall on both the men's and women's sides. Only Hangangjin keeps its toilet inside the fare gates, though, so it works differently. Above ground, a restroom on Seoul's open-restroom list sits by Itaewon Station Exit 1 and one on Yongsan-gu's open-restroom list is on the Noksapyeong Exit 3 side, and Kakao Map lists a public toilet near Itaewon Station Exit 4. Below are only the locations and hours that could be confirmed.

Itaewon Station (Line 6) — outside the gates, Exit 3 side

Seoul Metro's station-toilet data lists it as outside the fare gates, nearest to Exit 3, next to the escalator in the B1 concourse. Open 05:00–24:00. Both the men's and women's sides have one accessible stall.

Noksapyeong Station (Line 6) — outside the gates, Exits 1 and 2 side

The station for Gyeongnidan-gil and Haebangchon. The toilet is outside the fare gates, in the B1 concourse on the way in from Exits 1 and 2. Open 05:00–24:00, with one accessible stall on each of the men's and women's sides. It also appears on Seoul's open-restroom list as the Noksapyeong Station open restroom.

Hangangjin Station (Line 6) — inside the gates, tap in to use it

The station for eastern Hannam-dong. Of the three, it is the only one whose toilet is inside the fare gates — next to the GS25 convenience store in the B1 concourse, nearest to Exits 1, 2 and 3. Open 05:00–24:00, with one accessible stall on each of the men's and women's sides.

Hamilton Hotel open restroom (by Itaewon Station Exit 1)

179 Itaewon-ro. It is on the open-restroom list supplied by the Seoul city government (updated January 2026), about 53 m (a minute's walk) from Itaewon Station Exit 1 by the listed location. Its opening hours could not be confirmed from published sources.

Itaewon 3 public toilet (Itaewon Station Exit 4 side)

164-1 Itaewon-ro. Per Kakao Map it is 156 m, about three minutes on foot, from Itaewon Station Exit 4. Its opening hours could not be confirmed from published sources.

Itaewon 1 open restroom (Noksapyeong Station Exit 3 side)

56 Noksapyeong-daero 40-gil. Yongsan-gu's open-restroom list classes it as open "always", and Kakao Map puts it 249 m, about five minutes on foot, from Noksapyeong Station Exit 3. The district's list gives no actual opening times.

McDonald's Itaewon — open 24 hours

142-1 Itaewon-ro. It is open 24 hours, every day of the year, and Kakao Map puts it 363 m, about seven minutes on foot, from Noksapyeong Station Exit 3. Seoul's open-restroom list includes a "McDonald's open restroom", but under an older street number (136-13 Itaewon-ro). Whether you can use the toilet without ordering could not be confirmed from published sources.

Subway stations — exit and re-enter within 15 minutes for free

Seoul's free re-entry started at 10 minutes in July 2023 and was extended to 15 minutes that October, so if you exit for the toilet and tap back in at the same station within 15 minutes you are not charged a new base fare; the re-entry is processed as one transfer. Line 6 between Eungam and Bonghwasan is covered, so both Itaewon and Noksapyeong qualify.

Tips

  • At Itaewon and Noksapyeong the toilets are outside the gates, so you can use them without riding the subway; at Hangangjin you have to tap in first. If you are in Hannam-dong and not taking the train, Itaewon Station or an above-ground open restroom is the better choice. All three station toilets are open 05:00–24:00, so none of them is available after midnight.
  • Korea began removing bins from public toilets in January 2018, so used paper goes down the toilet.
  • Korean public toilets usually have paper, but in some it sits in a large dispenser outside the stalls rather than inside — take what you need before you go in. Keep pocket tissues in your bag in case it has run out.
