Public Toilets at Gangnam Station: Inside the Gates, Open Restrooms Outside
The Line 2 toilet at Gangnam Station is inside the fare gates, so you have to tap in to use it. Outside the gates, your options are open restrooms on Seoul's open-restroom list or on Kakao Map: one in the underground arcade and several in nearby buildings. None of their hours could be confirmed, and for the building restrooms it is also unconfirmed whether outsiders can actually walk in. No public toilet around Gangnam Station could be confirmed as open 24 hours either. Below are only the confirmed locations and the nearest exits.

Gangnam Station Line 2 toilet — inside the gates, tap in to use it
Per Seoul Metro's data, it is in the B1 concourse by the station office (the Exit 1 and 12 side), inside the fare gates. Open 05:00–24:00, with one accessible stall on each of the men's and women's sides. Baby-changing tables are in the women's toilet and the accessible toilets, not in the men's. The Shinbundang Line side also has toilets, but whether they are inside or outside the gates, where exactly, and their hours could not be confirmed.
Gangnam Station underground arcade restroom (near Exit 12)
Listed on Kakao Map as an open restroom at 101 Teheran-ro, inside the underground arcade. By map coordinates it is about 40 m in a straight line from Exit 12 and about 60 m from Exit 11. Being in the arcade, it is likely outside the fare gates, but no source says so, and its hours could not be confirmed. The Kakao Map entry has not been updated since 2020.
Gangnam-gu side — K-Square Gangnam open restroom (Exit 11 side)
11 Gangnam-daero 94-gil. It is on the open-restroom list supplied by the Seoul city government (updated January 2026) and, by map coordinates, about 100 m in a straight line from Exit 11. Where it is in the building, its hours and weekend access could not be confirmed. It is a different building from the similarly named K-Square Gangnam 2 (374 Gangnam-daero), so go by the address.
Seocho-gu side — two open restrooms near Exits 9 and 8
Both are on the open-restroom list supplied by the Seoul city government (updated January 2026). The Daewoo Bellace open restroom (19 Gangnam-daero 61-gil) is, by map coordinates, about 200 m in a straight line from Exit 9, but Kakao Map lists the building as a residential officetel. The open restroom at 398 Seocho-daero is about 210 m from Exit 8; Kakao Map lists it under two names, Platinum Tower and BNK Digital Tower, so the building's current name is unconfirmed — go by the address. For both, hours, weekend access and whether outsiders can actually walk in could not be confirmed.
Right by Exit 5 (Shinbundang side) — open restroom at 359 Gangnam-daero
Listed on Kakao Map as the "Dossiebit 2 open restroom" at 359 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, about 50 m in a straight line from Exit 5 by map coordinates. Kakao Map lists the building as an officetel and the entry has not been updated since 2020, so its hours and whether outsiders can actually walk in could not be confirmed.
Subway stations — on Line 2, exit and re-enter within 15 minutes for free
Seoul's free re-entry started at 10 minutes in July 2023 and was extended to 15 minutes that October, so if you exit for the toilet and tap back in at the same station within 15 minutes you are not charged a new base fare; the re-entry is processed as one transfer. Line 2 is covered along its whole length, which includes Gangnam Station. In the 15-minute re-entry announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Shinbundang Line is listed as excluded because it is a privately financed railway.
A bit farther — Sinnonhyeon Station and Kyobo Tower open restrooms
North of the station along Gangnam-daero, Kakao Map lists the Sinnonhyeon Station open restroom (underground 102 Bongeunsa-ro) and the Kyobo Tower open restroom (465 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu). They are about 780 m and about 720 m from Gangnam Station in a straight line, so both are closer to Sinnonhyeon. Neither Kakao Map entry has been updated since 2020, and their hours could not be confirmed.
Tips
- No public toilet around Gangnam Station could be confirmed as open 24 hours, and even the Line 2 station toilet keeps 05:00–24:00 hours. If you will be out late, use the station toilet while the trains are still running.
- Korea began removing bins from public toilets in January 2018, so used paper goes down the toilet.
- Korean public toilets usually have paper, but in some it sits in a large dispenser outside the stalls rather than inside — take what you need before you go in. Keep pocket tissues in your bag in case it has run out.
